Watch and pet our friendly animals from the cottage and experience some of the best star gazing in New Zealand from our beautiful hot tub. During your stay we offer a free animal tour of 1 hour, whereby you will visit some of our friendly animals incl bottle feeding our pet lambs (Aug-Dec), an Alpaca walk 🦙, and our friendly horses, cats, dogs and chickens 🥰

The cottage accomodation is totally private set in a beautiful garden setting in the grounds of the historic school house built in 1876. 20 minutes to Methven and 1 hour to Christchurch international Airport. Relax in the best of rural Mackenzie country with the whole family at our peaceful holiday home. We are less than 5min from Lake Opuha, and you could be at 3 ski fields within an hour!!! Approx 40 minutes from Tekapo , 1 hour from Timaru and 30 minutes from Geraldine, and approx 2 1/2 hours to Christchurch. Situated on the sunny corner of a working dairy farm you’ll enjoy mountain views and peaceful starry nights. Plenty of room for the family with a large lawn and fully fenced section.

Homebush Cottage is part of the 130 year old former Homebush School, located on the Southern Scenic Route, 8kms from Darfield township and close to popular Skifields, Lakes and amazing tourist destinations, thus making us the perfect stopover. The cottage is set on 3 acres including beautiful rambling gardens and tennis court. The Cottage is super comfy and suitable for a couple. We provide a self catering continental breakfast including free range eggs from Brown Shavers !!!
