Great hosts, peaceful and relaxing location. Clean, spacious and comfortable lodge. Well eqipped with all you could need during your stay. Loved the hot tub and the outside decking area. Large dog friendly garden which my grehound loved running around in. Quiet woodland nearby for dog walks and a farm shop that sells delicious fresh cakes. Resonably priced and would happily book to stay again. Thank you

As a family of foodies and in particular loving shellfish West mersea and the cottage were absolutely perfect for us. Our two teenagers loved the hot tub and we thoroughly enjoyed cooking good food in the small but perfectly formed kitchen and sitting in the sunshine in a very pretty deck watching the world go by. three nights was a treat, But perhaps a few extra just to make sure we could try all of the wonderful food offerings West Mersey provides . Thanks Roland for being a great host - we loved the cottage and would love to return.

Clear instructions on how to find the place, lovely host. Unfortunately they had lost their dog on the day of our arrival but still welcomed us warmly and ensured we knew everything we needed to know, even recommended some nice places to eat. Location was beautiful and very peaceful. Bed was very comfortable and looked brand new. Lodge was very clean and had cleaning supplies for us to use if needed. We would have left a little note in the book however we didn’t have a pen, but thank you very much for a lovely stay. P.s. really hope you found/find your dog!!

Our stay at the retreat was so relaxing and stress free. Maxine was friendly and welcoming. The Lodge itself was wonderful, bed was very comfortable, fully equipped kitchen. Jacuzzi was the best, 38.5 degrees of luxury. We will return without a doubt. The Lodge is a credit to Maxine.

We had a really lovely 3 night stay in charming Rose Cottage. It has all the amenities you could need and was very clean. Bed and pillows were really comfy. Very accommodating for dogs. Lots of information in the cottage for the surrounding area. We had 2 days of amazing walking. The local pub and micro brewery, an easy walk across fields, was an absolute gem. We spent 2 of our 3 evening here. I would highly recommend and we will definitely return. Thank you Mark

Adam welcomed us on arrival and was friendly and accommodating. When we needed to contact them about a couple of minor things, they were responded very quickly and dealt with any small issues immediately. Very friendly and provided local information. Accommodation was as expected, presented well - a 400 year old cottage with quirky, rustic and therefore in keeping decoration. Well appointed and plenty of kitchen accessories for cooking in if that's what you want to do. A lovely welcome pack provided :-) Nice pub over the road, beautiful walks to local villages with other great places to eat, a good location for a relaxing and walking and admiring the local scenery.. Area popular with bird watchers it seems (being right on the estuary...) Some road noise outside as the cottage is right on the road, but you soon get used to this if you're not already.

Quite simply, a beautiful country cottage. If you're looking for a quiet country getaway, with lots of outdoor activities on your doorstep, then look no further! We hired the cottage on a bit of a short-notice whim only a few weeks before Easter. It's a beautifully converted little building, perfect for a couples getaway. The hosts are fantastic communicators, very proactive and my partner and I were impressed with the little touches inside which made us feel right at home. Very easy to reach by car from Ipswich or Felixstowe and so many things to see and do in the immediate area. It's perfect to use as a base for walking. I loved the little suntrap garden, was so nice to sit and have my morning coffee surrounded by birdsong. The cottage itself is very cosy with all modern appliances you might need. Definitely recommend!

Amanda and Simon were warm and engaging hosts. If you love nature and enjoy outdoor activities the location of the stables in the surrounding countryside is perfect. There is such a variety of places to visit and local areas to explore that four days was not quite enough for us. So I'm looking forward to a return stay here soon. Michael

We had a lovely stay at Bonnie Cottage. Jo was very responsive to messages and accommodating as we booked on the day of our stay. We really appreciated the thoughtful treats left for us grown ups and toys and chocolate left out for the little ones. The space was modern, clean and very child friendly. Only a short walk to the beach too! We would definitely return ☺️

Cosy little cottage, great communication and beds were made up as requested on arrival. Use of BBQ and toys for the kids was a welcome addition. A bit far from the beach for my little kids but lovely area with lots of wildlife, peaceful and secluded.

We had a great stay in Flowton. We were comfortable and had everything we needed. The cottage is lovely and clean. Susan and John are very considerate hosts. Thank you so much, we really enjoyed our visit!

The Cart Lodge was absolutely perfect. The living space was comfortable and spacious, the kitchen was very well equipped, the beds were very comfy, and the shower had really good water pressure. There was lots of natural light in the property from all the windows, and the views across the countryside were just beautiful. The local treats left for us on arrival were a lovely surprise, and Angela was a very friendly and communicative host. We would definitely recommend!

Thanks for a great stay, cottage was lovely and clean. Loads of complementary goodies like bread milk bottle of wine etc. Garden was good for the dogs and enclosed, nice walks nearby and Hasty’s adventure farm up the road was great for my toddler.

Super place with lots of space. Great value for money and easy to check in. Great location for Colchester Zoo.
