It is a short distance from the busy market towns of Thirsk and Helmsley. It is the perfect location for a getaway in any season, either romantic break for couples or a “get out and do” holiday for families. A few minutes drive to the beautiful market town of Helmsley and Malton, with all amenitites, cafes/restaurants. Michelin starred restaurants The Pheasant, The Star, The Black Swan and Restaurant Myse are a few minutes drive away and The Yorkshire Spa Retreat.

Located just outside the market town of Bedale, a gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, Exelby is a quiet village with a thriving community owned pub (the Exelby Green Dragon). Recently converted, the Granary provides spacious accommodation for 4 / 5 people (plus cot) and offers an ideal stop for those wishing to explore the Yorkshire Dales, the North York Moors and the Vale of York in between or alternatively, is a convenient stop off for those travelling further North or South.

The Salt House Cottage, Pilmoor

Guests have a small private grassed area with a table and chairs. The cottage has dishwasher, washing machine and wood burning stove, all logs included. We do not accept pets. In summer, when the swing seat is out, guests have access to the main garden. The cottage has no internet connection but depending on your network, a good 3G or 4G signal can be accessed. We do not accept bookings from people who smoke or vape. Check in from 2pm, check out 10am.

Thirsk also prides itself in its racecourse where flat racing can be experienced through the summer.
