Visit our 600-acre award-winning sanctuary and help me, the Outreach Coordinator, socialize the rescued animals who live here. Because our residents come primarily from abuse and neglect situations, they need help trusting and being comfortable with humans. This helps our staff with medical care and helps the animals and guests better enjoy the public guided tours we offer. It takes two hours to visit with the pot belly pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, and rabbits. You will also have the opportunity to feed treats to the chickens and rabbits. Because you will be spending time with previously abused animals, interactions take place on their terms. As we walk from one barn or pasture to the next, you will learn about the history of Animal Place and what we do. Grab your boots, your phone (who doesn't want a selfie with a goat?), your sense of compassion and adventure, and join me and the over 400 animals that call Animal Place home!
I'm the Outreach Coordinator at Animal Place, a non-profit sanctuary for farmed animals. In this position, I am able to bring my professional experience and skills to one of my passions to make a change for farm animals. I have also volunteered socializing the animals before becoming an employee and have volunteered at a cat shelter and wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center. As a socializer for a year before joining the staff, it was my role to help our residents become more comfortable around and trusting of humans. I continue to socialize on my days off and I am knowledgeable about the animals, the conditions they come from, and how best so socialize with each species.
