Discover the secret life of Hawaiian Honey Bees

During Kauai Nectar adventure you will learn about the biology, life cycles, and societal structures of the beehives. You'll have the opportunity to ask any buzzing questions about bee culture before we get suited up and dive into the apiary. We'll spend about an hour exploring the hives, our tasks being dictated by whatever the bees need each day. There will be plenty of opportunities to see honey and pollen in its purest form, queen bees, drone bees and all their dynamics. We will finish the morning with a local raw honey and pollen tasting. You'll leave with your very own jar of honey from one of Kauai Nectar’s apiaries.

The tour will start by meeting at the Kapaa skate park in the Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex.

From Kuhio highway (56), you will turn towards the mountains onto Kukui street at the ABC Store in the heart of Kapaa. Kukui street will turn into Olohena road. The skate park will be on your right just under a quarter mile from the highway.

From the NORTH- you will make a RIGHT onto Kukui Street.
From the SOUTH- you will make a LEFT onto Kukui Street.

You will park in the parking lot on the right, before the roundabout. We will then caravan to the apiary (bee farm) a few minutes away.

I have been exceptionally lucky in 2 ways, I was born and raised on the beautiful island of Kauai and in 2011 I discovered a beehive that changed my life. Since then, I have been fortunate enough to study under master beekeepers from Hawaii, California and Europe. I now manage 7 apiaries and 200+ bee hives across the island and enjoy being called "honey girl" around Kauai. I am proud to be one the few young, female beekeepers worldwide and love sharing this ancient practice with people of all ages and backgrounds.

Everything you could ever want to experience firsthand about beekeeping. Charmingly funny and delightful, our guide shared the fundamentals on one of their sites - a true piece of paradise. This class was far more informative and extensive than I had hoped. Loved every minute of it. Only wish more folks would participate to gain an understanding of not only how cool bees really are, but how vital they are to life here on planet Earth. I highly encourage you to take this memorable experience.

Such a great experience. Dave and I learned so much about bees and beekeeping. We both loved the passion that Jenn has for the bees. Getting to watch the opening of the hives, the explanation of all the details of what is happening in the hive, and locating the queen bee was amazing. We thought this experience was fantastic and were so grateful that we got to experience it!

A fun introduction to honeybees for anyone interested in food culture, healthy ecosystems, learning about beekeeping, or even just getting to see bees up close! My 10-yr-old was fascinated (and also really excited for the honey tasting at the end). There’s hardly any walking, and we spent about half the time sitting, which suited my 73-yr-old mom. Perfect for our whole group!

Such a wonderful experience withRobin and her bees. Don and I are considering becoming beekeepers and Robin expertly conveyed the realities of beekeeping in Kauai. Her knowledge and passion for beekeeping will inform our decisions about taking on this unique stewardship role back home.

Truly an incredible experience that we enjoyed with our parents. Robin taught us so much about the hives and bees that we felt so safe going into the hives. Such a fun person, we could have spent the entire afternoon with her talking all things bees and honey. Highly recommend if you are on Kauai!!
