Qué harás

This is a half day experience, taking about 3 hours, lead by one of “The Mindful Tourist” certified Shinrin Yoku Guides.

We will meet at a designated area and you will experience a guided Shinrin Yoku, literally ‘forest bathing', a therapy that was developed in Japan in 80’s, becoming a cornerstone of preventive health care and healing in Japanese medicine. It is proven effective for reductions in stress, anger, anxiety, depression and sleeplessness. This is not exercise or hiking. It is simply being in nature, connecting with it through our senses of sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch. Shinrin-yoku is like a bridge. By opening our senses, it bridges the gap between us and the natural world.

We will then meditate and lie down on the ground surrounded by trees which helps you to feel grounded and connected to the earth's healing energy.

Dry massage and stretching, all done outdoor, are included. Some of the combined benefits of these therapies include deep relaxation, release of tension and stress, alleviate energy blockage, toxin cleanse and strengthening of immune system.

End the session feeling rested, rejuvenated and energized.

I am a certified Jikiden Reiki (direct lineage) practitioner, Thai massage, aromatherapy and foot reflexology therapist as well as a meditation guide. I have moved to Kyoto for work and have lived here for over 2 years.

I co-host this experience with 3 other guides, Alex, Natsumi and Ren.

Donde estarás

We will walk the famous Kyoto circuit trail which is less visited, so this will give us more privacy which allows you to connect to nature and yourself better. The starting point is near to Chion-in temple. The hike ends at the famous Kiyomizu dera (temple) in Higashiyama area and we could also walk around the temple ground if you’re interested.

Lots of nature, peace and quietness. Entrance ticket to temples is not included.

We spent the morning with Milena, who was a really excellent host. Having lived in Japan for many years, she was able to share some interesting insights into Japanese culture and lifestyle. The massage and Forest bathing on the mountain top was very special, she took her time, nothing felt rushed and there was no watching the clock. We got some great tips on where to lunch and what else to see and do in Kyoto. Highly recommend this experience.

Great experience with wonderful host. Milena took us to a gentle hike in the beautiful forest in Nara and then gave us a shiatsu massage in nature. Unique experience. Milena and Pin were attentive hosts, responding fast to accommodate my time and location constraints.

Pin was a lovely guide and it was a love tour :) We hiked to a secluded spot in the trail where you had the option of a reiki session or massage. Our only complaint was the mosquitoes! Which is not something anyone could change, but do keep this in mind if you're going for a hike when the weather is still really warm.

Our experience with Pin was absolutely a highlight of our trip. Pin was easy to talk to and had planned everything so we felt truly connected to nature and comfortable. A wonderful massage in a beautiful setting!

This is definitely a one of a kind experience! Pin is very caring and tender, she payed a lot of attention to my well-being during the hike and subsequent massage/reiki session. She is a very good soul and I’m glad to have met her! It was extremely hot that day, yet I received so much energy that I could’ve kept hiking for hours. I felt very refreshed after the experience! Highly recommended if you’re into nature!

It’s an easy hike of approximately 4.5km or 2.8 miles and the walk itself will probably takes about 1 hour 45 minutes. The elevation is about 240 meters or 780 feet. Basic-moderate level of fitness required. Relaxing and healing massage and/or meditation included.
