Truckee is an historic railroad town on I-80 just outside the Lake Tahoe basin. There is a wide offering of lunch/dinner restaurants as well as unique mountain style shops and galleries. www.visittruckeetahoe.com

Downtown Truckee is a calm quaint neighborhood. For families, Jack + Emmy has a great selection of clothes and toys. Buds Ice Cream is only open during the week but has the best old fashion ice cream in town. The best coffee can be found at Coffeebar. For a cozy romantic dinner try Pianeta but I recommending making a reservation. To pregame a night out grab a seat at Moodys bar which is walking distance to Pianeta. If you want your night to last till 2am try the Tourist Bar for cheap drinks and good conversation

Awesome town with great local shops and dining. Truckee California is a magical mountain town. Once a raucous logging burg, Truckee Lake Tahoe is now the central gateway to the North Shore. It’s also where you might see Paul McCartney in a free-form jam at a local restaurant, or find yourself seated next to an Olympic skier or mountain biker at a pub. Truckee boasts many shopping, dining and entertainment venues, yet remains steadfastly independent minded.
