fantastic small house with tranquil and almost abandoned beach at the end of the Costa Rica, just friendly reminder, if you’re not renting the whole house owner is staying downstairs, which was not problem at all

We loved staying again! The location is perfect for us - both on the beautiful beach, and near the point. The house is set up just right to enjoy with friends with large gathering spaces, and still have some space of your own. We appreciate the care taken before arrival - the house is spotless, and has a homey feel with coffee and staples to get you started. Thank you for another terrific extended stay! We'll see you again!

The location is great, few doors down to a supermarket and few restaurants. The property is beachfront and private. It’s more worth than what I paid for. Ana is a really nice person and eager to help. I’ll be back!

Paz is a special place and Roberto is a wonderful host. The floor to ceiling screens in the living room/dining room situate you right in the secondary forest. Heaven for nature loving bird nerds. If you’ve spent time on the Osa before, you know Howler monkeys wake you at 4:30am. We watched howler, spider, and squirrel monkeys from bed. The beach is a minute walk. A covered porch with hammocks and chairs to enjoy the beautiful Gulfo Dulce. And a small pool to cool off in (key) and watch Macaws, capuchin monkeys, hermit crabs & the waves. We bought groceries in Puerto Jimenez and cooked most of meals for the week. Kitchen has big fridge, sharp knives, and worked well for us. Marluna Lodge (5 min drive) for Taco Tuesday. Visited local surf breaks and surfed the right point break out front of Paz. Tide dependent. Roberto can help you figure it out. Roberto was very attentive, warm, and helpful. He’s created a beautiful space in a beautiful part of the world.

This place is to die for. You can paddle in to the break right out the private beach( low tide). Wildlife everywhere. Scarlett McCaws would feed in the trees out front and monkeys would steal your fruit if you left it out. You wake up to the sunrise on your face. This is a bucket list type of place. The photos don’t do it justice. The view out the front is incredible. We will be back for sure. I can’t say enough good things about this place.

Lapalandia was wonderful!! Just wish we had stayed more nights. It has a huge upstairs balcony with comfy seating and a large outdoor seating area with hammocks looking out over a lush tropical garden, and all things you need in the kitchen, bathroom, and living areas. Two things to be aware of are that the sleeping area is up a spiral staircase and all three beds are in the same room. So if you have to go to the bathroom at night you have to walk downstairs to the bathroom. Totally fine for us, but just in case you don't notice that in the photos! It was great being able to walk down a short path directly to Matapalo beach & King Louis Waterfall. It was also a short walk or drive to Backwash and Pan dulce. We enjoyed some excellent meals at Martina's, Encanta La Vida, Lapa Rios, and Bosque Del Cabo nearby. Highly recommend the hike up to the waterfall from the bridge as well. The host Rodrigo was very welcoming, incredibly helpful, and went above and beyond.

This was our family’s 5th trip to Pavones . We like to try different places and locations . Giselle’s home was beautiful , spacious and very comfortable. We had a smaller group and it didn’t feel overwhelming as it’s a big place . Outdoor spaces were amazing , and a quick walk to essentially a private beach . (Only saw 1 person over 8 days ) a short walk to La Pina restaurant for a pizza or dinner and only 3-5 minutes from various spots near Pavones point. I will say this was perhaps the most well equipped kitchen and linens we have experienced yet . Oliver the caretaker was quite helpful and his English is fair . Overall a very positive experience. YOU MUST GO! That should certainly be the title to this review. I cannot say enough about Sarah’s beautiful space but allow me to try… From the very beginning Sarah was hands down one of the most responsive, caring + attentive hosts. She helped us plan not only our stay at her place but also helped direct our week’s great adventures (surfing, sport fishing, snorkeling, etc.) The home is welcoming + wonderful, you will not be disappointed. It’s close to everything you need but has its own private feel. My kids played in the pool + ocean all week long. We loved that the beach was only steps away. There are water toys, towels, snorkel gear, boogie boards + so many things that help make you feel right at home. Our favorite spot to eat was El Coquito, the pizza was delicious + they delivered. There are many things to do + see so we had to pick + choose but we will be back to keep exploring this sweet haven of Costa Rica. Pack your bags + DO NOT think twice. Playa Zancudo is waiting.

Una casa perfecta para viajar con niños, ya que su piscina es perfecta para que se bañen cuando la marea esta baja en la playa(rocas). Lugar idílico rodeado de monos y en frente de playa pan dulce perfecta ola para surfear con tu longboard. Mas que recomendable!volveremos!

This was our first time renting an Airbnb in a foreign country, so we were a little nervous. Charles was super helpful and responsive during the whole trip. He gave us great recommendations, scheduled our excursions, and answered all of our questions. The main thing we wanted to do was to go offshore fishing. Charles hooked us up with two great captains (Louis and Donald (Dos Mas), and we had a great day of fishing. The house is located just a very short walk from the pier where you catch the boat. There are also several good restaurants that are within a short walk from the house. We also did an off-road drive and a short hike to the King Louis waterfall, tour of chocolate farm, and went surfing with Keilor (Lakos surf shop in town). We would recommend all of these activities highly. This was a great trip and we had a party of 6 from age 7 to 71. The fishing was amazing.

La casa está justo al frente del mar, el sonido del mar es increíble que se une con la vida silvestre, es algo increíble poder ver tantos animales y poder tomar une café frente al mar por las mañanas. La casa es toda una experiencia para poder vivir esa vida silvestre. Chicky quien cuida la propiedad es súper atento, muy amable y anuente a ayudar en lo que sea necesario. Lleve su comida y todo lo necesario porque no hay nada cercano para comprar.

If this home is available, you should definitely book it! My family and I stayed at this home for one week and enjoyed everything about it. The home is very private, safe and located on a spacious, beautifully landscaped property. The pool is a wonderful addition, especially for children. We loved the awning over the pool for shade, and sun. The outside terrace area is great for BBQing and relaxing in the hammocks. We loved the quirkiness of the home. It's an older Costa Rican home, but it has everything you need with hot water, AC, and solar panels - so even when the power went out all over Pavones we still had lights and AC. We slept very well in these beds (the room upstairs is bright, but the downstairs room is black-out). The kitchen is fully equipped, easy for cooking meals. The location was top-notch, easy to drive down to Pavones or Pilon for surfing. Last but not least, Valentine is a wonderful host and goes above and beyond. We definitely want to come back! 5 stars!

Jose es un excelente anfitrión y su alojamiento también es excelente. Sobre todo nos encantaron las habitaciones y la ubicación inmejorable ya que es prácticamente enfrente de la playa. Todo muy bien.

This place was really incredible. It's off the beaten path, but is a very short wander to the a lightly used beach overlooking the golfito. There wasn't much surf while we were there, but the accessibility to the surf spots was truly amazing. I'll be dreaming about the food at the restaurant down the street for years and just might have to book another trip here just to eat there again. Make sure you have 4 wheel drive if you plan on exploring further towards Corcavado, or book with a tour that will drive you there. The roads are boulders. I do hope it stays that way though because it keeps Carate wild, the way it should be. We appreciated our hosts dedication to reduce-reuse-recycle. It felt right in such a beautiful and wild place, to have conservation in mind at all times. We also enjoyed the boat tour we booked with their neighbor, who purchased a nice boat recently and also does kayak tours. We saw amazing dolphins and he took us to a great snorkeling spot.

Somos una pareja joven que ama la naturaleza y buscábamos un lugar tranquilo para desconectar y reconectar, y este lugar superó todas nuestras expectativas. La villa está rodeada de naturaleza , con el canto de los pájaros y el sonido del mar como banda sonora constante. En una zona muy tranquila cerca del centro del pueblo. Todo está pensado con muy buen gusto y armonía con el entorno. Lo que realmente nos sorprendió fue el diseño. Cada rincón está lleno de detalles cuidadosamente pensados, con una estética de lujo sencilla pero sofisticada que se siente perfectamente integrada con la naturaleza. Puedes ir caminando hasta la playa de Pavones o caminar por las playas cercanas y luego volver a este oasis privado a relajarte en total paz. Recomendaríamos La Santina de Pavones una y mil veces. Es el lugar perfecto para quienes buscan una experiencia auténtica en Costa Rica, sin renunciar al confort, el diseño y la belleza. ¡Volveremos sin duda!
