An owner built rustic cabin on the edge of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage. It is ideally situated to access the many walking tracks on the Great Western Tiers in central Tasmania close to the World Heritage. It has a double bed and two singles upstairs and a kitchenette downstairs. A small but compact space for outdoor type guests who love nature. Minimum 2 day stay. Inquire about price for longer bookings. The ideal place to get away from TV and Wifi, to chill out and unwind.

El espacio
The cabin is surrounded by birds and wildlife with wallabies sharing your space in the morning and evening. The space is ideal for 2 or three adults or a family of 3 or 4 with children over 4 years old as the staircase is quite steep. Downstairs the bathroom is across the deck in its own small building with a bath, shower and composting toilet. The deck is spacious and ideal for dining in the late afternoon on a summers day.
The kitchenette is supplied with tea and coffee, some spices, oil and other basic cooking ingredients. We will provide you with some milk on check-in if you haven't brought any. There are also basic breakfast cereals for your use.
This small cabin is located in the beautiful valley of Jackeys Marsh under the bluffs of the Great Western Tiers. The perfect location for a hiking holiday. There are many and varied walking trails nearby from difficult to easy. The setting is beautiful and the stars plentiful at night. It is also centrally located to explore the many experiences of the central north of Tasmania.

Acceso de los huéspedes
Guests will need to be self sufficient. The space is most suitable for fit and active people and a perfect base for hiking in the district. There is a steep staircase which may be difficult for older people to manage or young mobile children between the ages of 8 months and 3 years. The bathroom is across the deck from the chalet itself and contains a composting toilet, as well as a bath, basin and shower. Composting toilets save on water and are therefore better for the environment.

Ubicación

Jackeys Marsh, Tasmania, Australia

There are many walking trails in the surrounding area. The most well known are Meander Falls, Liffey Falls, Quamby Bluff, Warners Track, and Westmoreland Falls.
The nearest shop and cafe is in Meander where they serve great cofffee but also have a range of other cafe food. There are many shops and cafes in Deloraine as well as a supermarket and some remarkable art galleries.
Forest Walks Lodge next door may be able to provide you with meals on request.

We are an Australian couple and have lived in Tasmania for nearly 40 years. We run a small intimate ecolodge in northern Tasmania called Forest Walks Lodge. As well we have a small chalet that we can offer to guests who may enjoy a more rustic experience. The Lodge is modern with ensuite bathrooms for those who like some luxury. The chalet is self contained but more basic. We have a commitment to protect the wildlife on our property and have dedicated much of our land to conservation. We have been active in many of Tasmania's forest protection campaigns and have helped achieve World Heritage status for the forests surrounding our valley. We enjoy good food and other cultures and prepare dinners for the guests in our Lodge with fresh organic produce.
