Food and bar scene - all within a 10 minute walk

If you like real ales and thin crust pizza, the Gowlett Arms is 5 mins away. Lordship Lane is a 5 minute walk, and has many pubs, restaurants and cafes, including the East Dulwich tavern which also does good food; Jaflong Indian, Kanela cafe (excellent coffee) Also very good is Banh Banh , a family run Vietnamese restaurant which is less than 10 minutes away. I ate there on Saturday, some pretty unusual food and flavours. Artusi ( authentic Italian) can be hard to get into, also v close. I was disappointed last I went there A new addition is the Good Neighbour - again excellent small plate menu and great weekend brunch. Opposite there is Mr Bao - for lovers of Bao buns And for meat lovers - South African style on the braai Kudu Grill expensive but worth it! All within 10 mins walk. Levan by Peckham Rye station which is much more expensive, but excellent small plate menu. Cocktail bars in Peckham A very fussy cocktail friend has recommended Funki Dory, saying really good cocktails and friendly owners. Two hundred is small plates and cocktails Peckham Levels also has a cocktail bar Bussey rooftop bar is near Peckham Rye Station and has a great view Kanpai Sake brewery is also near there if you get bored of cocktails All are within a 10 minute walk from my house.

Art

There is always something worth seeing at the Tate Modern on the South Bank opposite St Paul's cathedral. A 63 bus to Blackfriars bridge and a 5 minute walk, or take the train from East Dulwich station to London Bridge station (4 an hour) takes 15 minutes then walk along the river to the Tate.
Walking distance from the house through Dulwich park is London's first public art gallery stacked full of Rembrandts, Canalettos etc. Not bad cafe too

Cars in London - my advice - take the train!

I can arrange car parking permits at no cost to you if you plan to bring your car to London. They are needed if the car will be in the street between Monday and Friday 9am-11 am. The latest deterrent to drivers is the UL EZ - the Ultra Low Emission Zone which covers all of central London from the north circular road to the south circular. As of 25.10.21 any non-compliant cars will be charged £12.50 a day. Check if your car is OK at the Transport for London TFL website. It affects older petrol cars and most diesel cars. Watch out too for the Congestion charge.

Don't forget the buses

They are slower, but still a good way to Central London. The best bus stop is Elsie Road, where the 176 heads to Waterloo, Covent Garden, and Trafalgar Square and the 185 takes you to Victoria station, Buckingham Palace, The Mall etc Use the TFL Go app for trains, buses and walking routes. Returning to the house get off at the Ondine Road bus stop. The one after East Dulwich station.

Travelling to my place from Heathrow

The most simple - should take about 1.5 - 2 hours. From Terminal 2/3 Follow signs for Elizabeth line train to Abbey Wood (5 stops). get off at Bond Street, change to Jubilee line southbound, ( 5 stops) to London Bridge. Exit the Underground station and head to platforms 13-15 of the Mainline station - there are lots of people ready to help you there. Find a train to East Dulwich (4X and hour) 4 stops/13 mins Get out and walk to mine - about 7 mins max. Going into town the trains may be busy depending on the time of day. An alternative is to search for an Uber on Arrival - do not pre book.
