Great non-organized beach with amazing views and the best sunset of the island. There is also a small canyon that arrives to a small waterfall that you can walk if thats your thing!

For most is the best beach in the island but you need to get there early in the morning and ideally outside the "popular" days. (August) 45 mins drive from the house, as it is on the other side of the island and be sure to wear SNEAKERS on you way there cause you need to make a hike to get down to the beach. You should also bring an umbrella, drinks and towels as the place is not organised. TIP: Always on the way back we stop to eat at "Sta Perix" restaurant that is on the way!

Trapalou or Trapalo Beach is a remote beach that is hard to get to (you will need a car that can get in a dirt road and a fairly ugly one for a small part i would say) but you are going to be relieved arriving there and finding a peaceful out of the map are for the people that are into it. There is a local restaurant as well but my recommendation is to get to the near village of Karkinagri at the Karakas Tavern for an amazing "grandmother" food treat! Get the pasta with the meat stew or whatever they have for the day and you will not be disappointed! Overall this is a great half day trip to relax even more!

Monastery in the middle of the green areas of the Island. you can visit the church of course if thats your thing but either way you can make a nice peaceful walk around the monastery. Usually combined with visiting the Fragma next to it. (seawell lake) TIP. Huge day for 15 of August when families get there and you can eat fried dough balls made there straight from the nuns and local women.

Best restaurant in the island serves fresh local food that is more modern but still keeping original flavours. The people are great and the environment great for in the local square for groups to have fun or for families to let the kids play around and enjoy. Lunch and dinner works perfect and would advise to get the Pink sauce pasta and beet risoto

Nice cocktail bar in a chilled environment. Quality drinks and nice people all around. Best choice for drinks in my opinion other than the local festivals. (panigiria)

Great restaurant on the south part of the island. If you arrive to this side of the island (less touristic) this is the place to be. Breathtaking food and great local food. Worth a try if you are around Agios Kyrikos

Best sunset of the island! You can get there a little before sunset and the people there can give you tour of the winery if you are interested. As far as the wine goes you have 3 choices of tasting at 10,12 and 15 euros or you can just take it by glass.

If you are looking for a proper kind of american/european brunch this it the place to get to. Creative ideas and local produce and just a few minutes from the house. The snicker pancakes are recomended and i would avoid coffee and opt for a juice instead!

Costumbres y cultura

Festivals in Ikaria.

These festivals are called "Panigiri" and every village has their own and the dates are based on Saints days but every year some of them are moving. For a night festival you should arrive around 11pm and expect it to finish around 7-8 am when they stop the music. Pack a sweater and some sunglasses if you are prepared to go all the way and get ready for an experience that it really unique. There is food in the form of simple salads, roasted and/or boiled meant, cheese and sometime fries. The alcohol is basically beer and lots of wine! Always ask in any place for the upcoming festivals!
