If you want authentic Mexican food, like my BFF's abuelita used to make, this is the place. The chile relleno, fajitas and carnitas tacos are top notch and well-priced. Nothing fancy, just really good Mexican. If you want tamales, get there early as they usually sell out by noon.

Sightseeing
The Oasis of Mara can be seen from our backyard, but is best visited on foot at the Oasis Visitor Center. All types of desert flora and fauna can be seen here as well as the Twentynine Palms for which our city is named.

The Oasis of Mara can be seen from our backyard, but is best visited on foot at the Oasis Visitor Center. All types of desert flora and fauna can be seen here as well as the Twentynine Palms for which our city is named.
The original (and largest) Joshua Tree Visitor Center is in Twentynine Palms right next to the Oasis of Mara. There you can find guidebooks, trail maps, souvenirs and purchase day or week passes to the park. I love making the small loop drive from TwentyNine down to the Joshua Tree entrance (appx 30 min) then grabbing food or drinks in Joshua Tree proper or heading up to Pioneer Town before driving back through at night to stargaze along the way.
