Park City Guide

Welcome to Park City, Utah!

7,000 feet above sea level, Park City sits on the back of the famed Wasatch Mountains just 30 miles from Salt Lake City. Prepare for adventures any season including world-class skiing, snowboarding, hiking, biking, and more. But it's not all go go go – recharge eating, drinking, shopping, or maybe visiting art galleries, spas, and Main Street.
Park City is a historic mining town with unparalleled access to the outdoors and adventures along the Wasatch Back. Utah's capital city of Salt Lake City is just 40 minutes away and when it hosted the Winter Olympics in 2002, many events were held in Park City steps from where you'll be staying.

Things to see and do

From outdoor sports to art galleries, there's something for everyone.
The best way to get a feel for Park City is to take the town stairs right outside the condo down to Main Street. Walking the entire length of it will take ~15 minutes but you'll want to stop to check out some shops, galleries, restaurants, bars, and plazas. Town stairs are located throughout Old Town and allow you to get around easily.

World-class skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, and hiking are located right outside the front door of the condo at the largest resort in the country. Wear your boots out and be on the hill in ~100 steps. From there, it's a short ski down to Town Lift.

Park City was home to a number of Olympic events in 2002 including freestyle (moguls, aerials), ski jumping, bobsled, and luge. You can re-live the Games here via immersive experiences. There are shows to see ski jumpers and aerial specialists and a bobsled ride open to the public, as well as zip lines, ropes courses, etc. in the summer.

The nearby Uintas Mountains are more off the beaten path and offer hikes of all shapes and sizes. Drive east towards Kamas about an hour and you'll be in the middle of the second largest west/east running mountain range in North America.

The Mountain Terrace hosts a champagne sabering every evening in a tradition dating back to Napoleon Bonaparte. Go for the sabering but stay for a free glass of bubbly or their world-famous Bloody Marys. Walk, bike, drive, or take the free bus which drops off steps from the funicular.

Hungry? Grab a bite

You'll find all kinds of food and cuisines from New American and farm-to-table to fresh sushi and wood-fired pizza. Here are some of my favorites:
Ski-in or walk a few minutes from the condo to this casual (order at the counter) place for pizza, sandwiches, and tacos. If you can, grab a seat on the outdoor porch where you'll get afternoon sun and get to watch people and skiers. Then get back on the slopes!

Casual, no frills Mexican taqueria a few minutes drive from the condo. It's a family-run establishment with burritos, tacos, tortas, and other delicious Mexican fare at reasonable prices. Drive-thru and dine-in available. I always order the california burrito smothered in red enchilada sauce and a churro for afterwards!

Off the beaten path, this is my favorite restaurant in Park City. Pair cocktails, wine, and beer with some delicious and fresh farm-to-table dishes. This place has something for everyone but the chicken friend portabello mushroom and open face patty melt with french fries are sure to be a welcome taste for many!

Featured on the Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Sammy is often working at this off the beaten path restaurant outside Old Town. Draft beer, full bar, and simple but delicious eats await. Fish tacos with sweet potato fries are highly recommended.

There are plenty of places to get a drink in Park City, many easy walking distance from the condo. From dive bars with karaoke to quieter wine bars, there's something for everyone.
For excellent whiskey, cocktails, and perfectly paired food, head down to the High West Distillery on Park Avenue. For whiskey lovers, I recommend ordering the whiskey sampler flight and hitting the "gift shop" afterwards to take a bottle home.

Hard to miss this local institution on Main Street just a few minutes walk from the condo. It's a "Park City-style" local dive bar with lots of beer on tap, full food menu including bison burgers, and an upstairs outdoor patio that is filled with energy all year.

Consejos para la ciudad

Cómo moverse

Walk, bike, or (free) bus

Most of Old Town you can easily access with your own two feet. You can absolutely have a great stay without a car. But if you're looking to explore nearby hiking, mountains, or ski resorts, it is easiest to have your own vehicle. Ridesharing (Uber and Lyft) is also available. Many local restaurants offer free shuttles.
Qué empacar

Layers, footwear, water bottle

While the weather in Park City can be fairly predictable, it's good to dress in layers especially if you'll be up on the mountains. The weather can change quickly and it's good to be prepared.
Reserva antes de ir

Remember you're at 7,000 ft.

Park City is located 7,000 ft. above sea level so altitude sickness is not rare. Be sure to hydrate and take things easy when you get in.
Cómo moverse

"Town stairs" have green railings

You'll see staircases throughout Old Town that run perpendicular to Main Street, connecting many parts of hilly Old Town. All are entirely open to the public and are often much safer than slippery sidewalks and roads. They all have green metal railings.
Formas de ahorrar

Get a ski pass...early!

If you'll be skiing/snowboarding 3+ days, you should look into buying an Epic pass, which could save you a lot of money. Buy early – passes are often on-sale and will sell out.

Nightly Old Town 10pm siren

Every night of the year at 10pm, you'll hear a loud siren in Old Town Park City. It's a nod to the town's historical mining roots when they used to test the fire alarm siren daily and realized it doubled nicely as a curfew bell.
