We love camera obscura. It’s a kind of magic. And it’s worth visit even only for the great guide not mentioning spectacular show.

Hidden between a nature reserve and the Spanish border is the ever so unique village of Castro Marim. It’s surrounded by wetland, salt ponds, and sandwiched between a 13th century castle, and a 17th century fortress.

Our favorite restaurant. Remember to book the table ! It’s busy in the evening. We recommend tuna tacos and tuna sandwich, but the octopus is tasty as well as everything else in the menu.

Probably the best seafood restaurant in Tavira. Seafood shop during the day, great place to eat in the evening. Beware not to order too many dishes. Portions are huge.

Ferry to the beach.
There is a ferry terminal downtown in Tavira. It takes around 15 minutes to get to the beach from there. You can choose to go to Quatro Aquas - the ferry goes to the beach more often there and it’s only 5 minutes trip.. But you will miss flamingos and view of the salinas!

Shortest, nice walk to the Tavira Center
Our place is 30 min walk from the city center on the quiet hill of the Alto do Perogil. Silence and peaceful athmosphere is why we love our house in Tavira. To get to the city you may drive your car (5min) or take a walk. Short, save and very nice path is here: https://goo.gl/maps/arg1Nfzz4mrDjSQj8
Go down the hill to the road N125, cross the road (be careful) and go straight to the narrow street surrounded by the stone walls shadowed by the old olives trees.
