Church Stretton

Church Stretton is a small market town and is just 5 minutes drive from the Pottery. It has a lovely variety of traditional shops (butchers, baker, deli, antiques) as well as a supermarket. The main reason that people visit Church Stretton is that it's in the Shropshire Hills, by the National Trust's Longmynd. The scenery (and walking and biking) are wonderful. The Kings Arms in Shrewsbury (pub grub), and Jemimas and Berrys Tea Rooms all have good local reputations. The Green Dragon and Ragleth in Little Stretton are also popular. No doubt you can find other eateries on Trip Advisor too. https://kingsarmschurchstretton.co.uk/ https://theraglethinn.co.uk/ https://thegreendragonpub.co.uk/ https://www.berryscoffeehouse.co.uk/ https://victoriahouse-shropshire.co.uk/jemimas-kitchen

Places to go....

There really are numerous ‘walks from the door’ from the Pottery. Head down the track and there’s one more house and then a gate leading onto the National Trust moorland called ‘The Longmynd’. There’s a map on the wall of the Pottery to help you get your bearings. (You might want to get an ordnance survey map if you’re keen walkers). The National Trust have a selection of walking suggestions for the Longmynd. https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/carding-mill-valley-and-the-shropshire-hills/lists/try-one-of-these-beautiful-walks-at-carding-mill-valley The Church Stretton website has suggestions too: https://churchstretton.co.uk/see-and-do/walking/ The mountain biking on the Longmynd is fantastic. The National Trust have issued a mountain bike map (below). https://nt.global.ssl.fastly.net/carding-mill-valley-and-the-shropshire-hills/documents/mountain-bike-map-for-the-long-mynd.pdf
