Food Scene

The food is delicious and the service can't be beat. We love this place for brunch when we have company or for lunch when we have time. Not open for dinner. Try the pimento cheese, for real.

Sometimes it's the simple things in life... a margarita, some chips and cheese dip. This inexpensive mexican is my favorite branch of a local chain, and I've been eating here on and off since college.

Parks & Nature

This is a nice wooded trail around Lake Maury at the Mariners Museum, and with a very pleasant trail head at the river front for a picnic or just to watch the sun set. Great spot for a walk or trail run, access and parking are free.

Arts & Culture

It's only a buck! Seriously! Admission at the Mariner's Museum was on special for $1 per person over the summer and they extended it! If you have any interest in maritime culture, the civil war (especially our local Battle of the Ironsides) or general history, this museum is super cool AND cheap, what's not to like?

Essentials

There's also a food lion just on our side of Warwick, but the Harris Teeter has won me over with their cheerful, helpful staff.

Entertainment & Activities

The focus on local species is interesting and fun, and on a nice day, the outdoor trail (and dinosaur park) are great for kids. Personally, I just like to go watch the otters play.

Oozlefinch is slightly further afield, being in Hampton at Ft. Monroe, but it's one of my favorite local brewery options and the location is especially neat. They have rotating food trucks and live music as well, check their website for details. The Oozlefinch is a rare bird... ask someone to tell you the tale!
