My recommended restaurant's

Oliver's Restaurant which is a fantastic casual fine dining restaurant that has been around for 23 years, reservations are recommended because the restaurant is small but it is so worth it and best of all - it's located in the same building as the apartment! Térre is located in the Alt Hotel is a fine dining restaurant and only a minute walk from the Airbnb just head left when you leave the building and go to the corner it's on your right. Get Stuffed is a casual fine dining restaurant located on Duckworth Street, which is the next street up and it's only a short walk from the Airbnb. When you leave the apartment take a left, go to the corner and take a left and then a right onto Duckworth Street it's one block up on the left side. Merchant Tavern is a casual resto/bar on Water Street which is about a 7 minute walk or 2 blocks from the Airbnb and close to George Street. When you leave the apartment head right two blocks and it will be on your left side at the set of lights on the corner Blue on Water is a resto/bar on Water Street and only a few buildings away from Merchant Tavern or 2.5 blocks from the Airbnb. When you leave the apartment turn right walk two blocks until you get to the set of lights at the intersection of George Street, cross to the left side of the street and it's a half a block from the corner. If you're looking for something truly unique I would recommend Mallard Cottage they are in Quidi Vidi Village which is fairly close to the QV Brewery driving or a cab is recommended to get there, but if you are willing to walk it is about a 20 minute walk. If you are looking for Pub style food and local dishes I would recommend Broderick's Pub which is half a block away from the Airbnb and live music throughout the day. When you leave the apartment take a right, walk up until the first crosswalk then cross onto the left side of the street and it's about four buildings away from the corner. Kelly's Pub on George Street is only 3 blocks from the Airbnb, they serve homemade pub-style food and local dishes as well as live music from 6:30pm to close. For a really great Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwich I would recommend Three Sisters Vietnamese Subs located on Water Street which is a half a block from the Airbnb on the same side. If you would like any other suggestions for restaurants or are looking for something specific, just message me and I will do my best to give you a recommendation.
Amazing restaurant that has been around for over 20 years that is consistently good, has fresh seafood delivered everyday, everything is made from scratch, it has a very large wine list and has a good few kinds of scotch on its menu. Reservations are recommended because the place is quite small but I can guarantee it is worth it!

Sightseeing

Downtown St. John's is mainly comprised of Water Street, Duckworth Street and Harbour Drive. All roads leading up from downtown are mostly hills so good, comfortable footwear is highly recommended for walking. You can walk from downtown to Signal Hill to take in Cabot Tower and views of the city from the top of the hill as well as views of Cape Spear and Fort Amherst. Most restaurants are located on either of those streets and George Street is the main street for bars and pubs although some are located sporadically on Water Street and Duckworth Street. The famous colourful row houses of St. John's are located about 1 block north from the Airbnb and not far from Duckworth Street on Prescott Street, Gower Street and other smaller side streets in that vicinity. During the Summer from June 30th until September 5th Water Street is transformed into a Pedestrian Mall, parking is not permitted as well as vehicular traffic.

One of the main landmarks of St. John's is Cabot Tower which is located at the top of Signal Hill Road. Halfway up at the visitors center you will find the Signal Hill Tattoo which runs every day from June first until October 1st and The NL Chocolate Company Cafe. This road will also take you to the Signal Hill hiking trails which will take you along the cliffside of the Harbour and give you magnificent views of St. John's Harbourfront, Fort Amherst, Cape Spear and an amazing view of the city at sunset and the Atlanic Ocean at sunrise!

Quidi Vidi (pronounced Kiddie Viddie) is a very quaint area of old St. John's that has fishing shacks on one side and houses on the other in a working fishing harbour. Quidi Vidi Brewery, Mallard Cottage which is a fine dining establishment and the Inn of Old Pub are the main attractions to this area outside of the excellent views and trails you will come across. This area gives you access to a couple of the East Coast hiking trails such as White Hills which will give you views of the Atlantic Ocean and another trail not far past the brewery that will take you from Quidi Vidi to Signal Hill.

Walking is the fastest way to get around downtown

Walking is strongly encouraged in the downtown area of St. John's as parking is difficult to find. From June 30th until September 5th Water Street has a Pedestrian Mall in which parking and vehicular traffic is not permitted.
