If you continue up the mountain about 10 minutes more from the Apple Barn, you'll land in the village of Cloudcroft. This mountain village sits "9000' Feet above stress level" and is much cooler than the Alamogordo area on average. It is a great place to hike and sight-see during the summer and ski or inner tube during the winter! Locals love the cute shops there are to walk, local food, hiking, offroading, and more!

While their is a Dunkin Donuts very close to the home, Daylight Donuts is the local hotspot for donuts. A drive through only, there can be a wait but from the local word of mouth, it's well worth it.

Mad Jack's has a reputation that every local will be happy to tell you about. It is known for being the best local barbecue in the area, but beware that it can have long lines and when they sell out, they're out!
