Beautiful beach with lots of restaurants, including the Crab Shack, Pizza Express, The Oyster Box. L’Horizon Hotel and St Brelades Bay Hotel both have lovely spas. For those who love to Kayak or Paddle Board, there are a couple of great hire shops open in the summer months.

Lovely family friendly beach that’s great for swimming or fishing. Parking can be difficult in many of the small bays on the north coast in the summer months.

Food scene

Not to be missed. This little bay with a harbour is packed full of restaurants and bars, the odd shop and occasional market. Spend an evening out at The Boathouse or the Old Courthouse, or take your pick from the large number of other fantastic restaurants. We like the Salty Dog, in fact, we like all of the restaurants! Great little place for a few drinks and a bite to eat.

The city centre hosts a number of shops, bars and restaurants. We recommend a trip to Colmar, the French brassiere on the high street for any time of day. Or head the The Yacht for a drink or food in one of the any restaurants. You’ll also find some Michelin star restaurants in St Helier, including Bohemia. St Helier is great for night life, so head to the Troubadour by liberation square for a drink in the sunshine, and take a walk around the harbour. There are also some museums to visit.

Getting around

Lots of buses to get into the city centre, or hire an Evie bike to get around, using the Evie app. If hiring a car, note that many country roads are narrow.

Family activities

The Amaizin Maze is popular with children, though we recommend taking your own food and drink for ease. Or visit Durrel Wildlife to see a host of wildlife in a beautiful setting. Visit the Jersey Heritage website to see how t get to the many castles and other great places around the island. There is also a pool complex in St Helier that great for a swim (the Aquasplash). At St Ouen, there is a great place called les Mielles golf, for crazy golf and other fun activities.

Wildlife

Local wildlife consists mainly of birds, fish and amphibians. There are few predatory mammals in Jersey, with no foxes and badgers, but we do have a host of barn owls, buzzards, kestrels, peregrine falcons and marsh harriers. Geese and other migratory birds tend to arrive throughout the year. If you want to spot some birds, head to the national trust bird hide in St Ouen. Some of the most spectacular wildlife is in our seas. Get snorkelling, scuba diving or rock pooling to see a plethora of fish and crustaceans. Seals, tuna, mackerel and dolphins are regularly spotted in our waters too!
