Food Scene

Really good New Mexican food, good coffee, full bar. Our personal favorite for weekend breakfast. You can always tell a good, traditional New Mexican restaurant by the make up of its patrons - a good percentage of regular customers are traditional Hispanic Santa Fe residents who know what good chile should taste like. This is not a tourist trap or a some "new take on something old" Just good down home NM food. Like SF Bar & Grill, it's just a 15-minute drive from our home at Devargas Center.

If you're taking the High Road to Taos scenic byway, this is a popular spot for breakfast/brunch. Food is good and they have fresh baked desserts that will make you drool. But it can get very busy during peak occasions (Mother's Day for example) and service can be painfully slow.

The Santa Fe ski basin is only 45 minutes away. It's a fun mountain to ride and is our preferred location to snowboard considering lift ticket prices, proximity, and quality of ski runs. Taos Ski Valley is also a great ski mountain but lift tickets are a bit more expensive there and the drive is twice as long.

Entertainment & Activities

Ojo Caliente hot springs is just 40 minutes away. We like to go soak during the evenings in the cooler months - they offer reduced hot springs access rates after 6pm. Restaurant onsite with beer/wine. There are also short hiking trails on-sight. It's a gamble to go during monsoon season - they will have to ask folks to get out of the pools if a lightning storm moves in so we don't go there if rain is in the forecast.
