Take a drive up thru the wooded hills of Pierce Stocking Scenic Dr. to the very top of the tallest sand dune of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Park at top and take a short walk to the most breathtaking view of Lake Michigan.

South Dune HighwayTake a drive up thru the wooded hills of Pierce Stocking Scenic Dr. to the very top of the tallest sand dune of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Park at top and take a short walk to the most breathtaking view of Lake Michigan.
Cute little harbor town on Lake Michigan. Shopping and restaurants along the wharf. Find one of the several small parking lots on the south side of the river, along Lake Michigan, in the residential area. These open right up to the big lake and you can look for Leland Blue stones along the beautiful shore. Walk to the pier and watch the boats heading out to Manitou Islands. Great swimming location.

Cute little harbor town on Lake Michigan. Shopping and restaurants along the wharf. Find one of the several small parking lots on the south side of the river, along Lake Michigan, in the residential area. These open right up to the big lake and you can look for Leland Blue stones along the beautiful shore. Walk to the pier and watch the boats heading out to Manitou Islands. Great swimming location.
This is a Favorite place to stop but note, it is for Sale as the owner is retiring back to England, so call ahead. English fare and upscale pub like atmosphere. Outside seating available. I recommend the fried Haggis with mustard or the Toad in a Hole. The owner is a huge rugby fan and the bar hosts pictures of his college team. The is a great destination point for taking a beautiful drive across Leelanau County.
