Parks & Nature

Spectacular 92ha National Nature Reserve. I am biased though as I was lucky enough to be Ranger here for 5 years! Miles of golden sands, acres of flowering grassland on the dunes behind with an impressive backdrop of cliffs full of nesting seabirds.

An easy way into The Angus Glens. Possible walking routes range from a gentle stroll along the glen floor to bagging yourself a Munro or two! Glen Clova Hotel is a good spot for a restorative drink, food or even some energy giving Clootie Dumpling

Starting point for exploring the Montrose Basin Local Nature Reserve. Very different from the beach at St Cyrus with different wildlife. Lots of wading birds, seals and thousands of Pink-footed Geese in the autumn and winter. Little Terns sometimes best on specially built rafts and you can see lots of distinctively coloured Eider Ducks. The visitor centre is really fun and informative with a range of events through the year.
