The Swy-A-Lana Lagoon is a picturesque place to absorb sights and sounds of an ocean side park. It is in the heart of the Muffeo Sutton harbourside park. Enjoy beautiful roses, friendly mutts, and the sea air. The lagoon is one of the most unique waterfront features ever seen in a city harbour. The tidal water comes in and is warmed by the sun. The waters are refreshed daily. Clean water ocean swimming at its best! The walk to the harbour is lovely too, when transversing through Bowen Park, alongside the spectacular Millstream River. Trip plan: Set out by going east (to the right) down Townsite Road. Take the first right - Girven Avenue, and go down to where it turns into Riverside Drive. Follow Riverside Drive to the park entrance. Once in the park, head left (east) and follow the trail alongside the river. Eventually, you will hit Wall Street which borders the east side of the park. Follow Wall St south to Comox Road. Turn left on Comox and follow it to Muffeo Sutton Park. You may want to pick up refreshments at the Tim Horton's on the corner of Comox and Terminal Ave.

Just a 15 min. walk brings you far away from civilization. The river streams spectacularly over countless picturesque features. Its wilderness backdrop will make you feel you've landed in a rugged far off uninhabited corner of Canada. Early spring, look for beautiful dog-toothed lilies and skunk cabbage. In late spring, find the eye-popping rhododendron garden in full bloom. (To walk, access Bowen Park through the back entrance - go east on Townsite to Girven, turn right, & go south to Riverside Dr and walk along til you reach the foot bridge).
