Food scene

This is the main Mexican eatery and social hangout in town. It's a massive spot with a semi-covered palapa style bar that has live music and people dancing on most nights. There's an indoor bar that will show the game of the hour. There are various rooms and patios with seating options for couples and large groups. It's a great place to go with a large group. Expect a wait if it's a busy time of year. The margaritas are pretty good!

This is THE foodie hot spot of the breakfast world in Palm Springs. Expect long lines before you order your acai bowl or butternut squash scramble. Advice: put your name in then head to Koffi across the street for a coffee or Belgian Supreme frozen drink while you wait… amazing!

This is the best address on the strip. It's a big, good-energy place that's fun if you want to see or be seen. The food is all solid (but not necessarily amazing). They have great prix-fixe deals with tons of options so everybody will be happy.

This is a great local spot if you like seafood-style pub food. The fish and shrimp tacos with extra white sauce are out of this world. We highly recommend the oyster shooters, sautéed mushrooms and poke. It's a really fun atmosphere with live music and outdoor table seating or a small, first come first serve indoor bar area. The indoor bar is a great spot to eat alone.

This elegant restaurant is tucked away in South PS, and it offers a more classic approach to dining. It's great for date or small, intimate meal. They have live music (keyboard) most nights and a beautiful outdoor setting behind the main restaurant.

A classic steakhouse with a modernized flair. Everything on the menu is amazing. You have to check out Seymour's Bar in the front of the restaurant. Such a great place for a fancy yet classic drink. This place is GREAT (same people as Cheeky's and Birba).

This is a stylish spot with foodie food and environmental flare. It’s pretty spendy, but it definitely is one of the more modern spots in town. They have a seasonal menu so you never really know what’s going to be offered, but everything is usually very tasty.

Despite this strip mall restaurant’s peculiar location and façade, this is a Vietnamese influenced, foodie gem that sits in the corner of a hotel parking lot just off the main strip. There’s usually a line of people spilling out the front door so make a reservation!

This group of canyons is burrowed into the south end of Palm Spring on the main drag if you continue beyond “the curve”. It’s the perfect escape for hiking and horseback riding (contact Smoke Tree Stables). Temperatures can be cooler in some of the canyons which is nice in the summer months, and there are a couple of swimming holes and waterfalls if you do your research.

No first timer’s trip to Palm Springs is complete without ascending San Jacinto Peak by way of this rotating gondola (only one of a couple to exist in the world). The upper base station is 8,516 feet up so remember to bring layers, even in the summertime. This is a great escape from the heat during the summer. There are a couple restaurant options up top, but mostly this is for picture takers and wanderers… and especially hikers if you want to traverse to the top of the peak.

Day Trips

A little over an hour outside of Palm Springs is a western backdrop of a town with a fun Hollywood history. Be sure to check hours of operation as gift shops and the general store are closed on certain days, although you’ll avoid overly touristy experiences on those days so it’s up to you. The ribs at Pappy & Harriet’s are delicious!
