Knysna Elephant park is located by Plett (actually not in Knysna). We recommend if you've never been up close and personal with an elephant, this is an absolute must! It's a rescue and these beautiful beasts now have a much better life.

This is located across from the Knysna Elephant Park so plan to do both! This is a wonderful bird rescue and they even have "flight displays" where rescues show you what they can do. These birds are loved and given homes because they cannot be released. They also do rehab birds to be released into the wild where they can, it's a great place to visit, you'll leave with a new respect for these winged creatures.

There are also other reptiles, some of which you can touch, all within a park like setting...beautiful. It's located close to the wineries so make a day out of it!

Many of the longer trails are un-even and can be rocky/slippery so caution if you're planning a hike. This is a BIG draw to people and is worth a visit....for a several hour hike or even just a short stroll!
The Crags is an area just 10-15 minutes from Plett Central. Here you'll find the best local wineries, horseback riding, and several of the animal rescues and local adventures.

The airport road (now paved) has a nice Farm Stall for fresh veggies, Ouland Royale which is a quaint place to eat and has a unique shop and if you keep your eyes open-there are a male and female ostrich and 2 donkeys on one of the properties. This is a popular road to bypass the N2, especially when coming to stay at Bird Villa or to hike around Robberg!

SUMMER Packing
No need to overpack for Summer. Remember that Summer here is November-December-January so that's when it's HOT! We provide you with beach bags, beach chairs, games, towels, etc so no need for those bulky items. Just bring your bathing suits, sundresses & sandals, guys-shorts and tees + a polo shirt (with a collar in case you're "dressing up"). Any questions, just ask, that's what we're here for!

FALL/WINTER Packing
Fall & Winter can get quite chilly so be prepared! Layering is the way to go as the day can start out chilly and end up hot in the sun. Make sure you pack great layering pieces, a good jacket and even a beanie if you're planning on doing outdoor activities as that will keep you comfortably warm. Bring a backpack/day pack so you have a place to shed those layers if you need to! Any questions, just ask, that's what we're here for!
