This is a good place to start from with a small pullover at the bottom both sides, intersection with Wittenberg Rd. It will give you access to the following rides: WITTENBERG, 212 LOOP: Harder: hang a right out Wittenberg to four corners intersection w 212, hang a right, 212 into Bearsville, go up Yerry Hill or go all the way into Woodstock and go up Ohayo Mtn Rd, continue on Ohayo Mtn Rd, go down backside of Ohayo Mtn Rd, before stop sign hang a right towards Mt Tremper, Wittenberg Rd, go up then down and all the way back to Abbey Rd. Reverse this, multiple variations. Easiest up is frontside Ohayo Mtn Rd.

This is a big ride but well worth it. You can do it in either direction but I suggest this one because of the cool down coming back into Phoenicia down 214 where you could reward yourself with a sit down drink at Brio’s and/or swim off Old Plank Rd. before heading home. Park at the Woodstock Recreation Field/ community Center parking lot Go up Rock City Road, turn right on Glasco Turnpike, turn left on West Saugerties Rd., at Tee make a left, make a quick right on Blue Mtn Rd, go to Tee, make a left, go through Palenville, go up 28 A, long winding road, going past falls, to top, turn left at top ride through Haines Falls, Tannersville, head towards Hunter, turn left on 214 before town of Hunter, take all the way slight up then major down, to Phoenicia. PAUSE. It’s a left into Phoenicia at the Tee, Brio’s is on Right. Continue straight onto Old Plank Rd, SWIM Then at 4 corners make left onto 212 and go all the way back to Woodstock. DO THIS RIDE YOU WILL BE HAPPY!

Hybrid or Mtn Bike

Be a purist go from town to the tower. Park at the Woodstock Recreation Field and head up Rock City Rd. At the four corners, intersection of Glasco Turnpike continue straight up Meads Mountain Rd, across from the Buddhist Monastary at the top on the right at the far end of the parking lot head up the gravel path to the fire tower. There is a cell tower up there so this gravel path is really a road that can accomodate trucks. This is why I don’t advise Overlook as a hiking destination because you would be hiking on a road. Biking it though is a fun challenge. If you continue past the tower and the masses you will find the ledges visible from town where there is no better place to be after your ride. Pause there. View is great. Do not get to close to edge...for real.
