Probably a 10-15 minute walk, this is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. It’s got a great ambiance (ask for the patio if it’s nice out), and everything on the menu is tremendous. Get the chocolate hazelnut cake for dessert!

Valter’s is possibly the most revered restaurant in Salt Lake, and maybe my favorite. It is not cheap, but totally worth it. For a special occasion or just a fun night out, Valter’s is always delicious! Make sure to get the lemon gelato for dessert!

This bar has, in my opinion (and that of many other locals), the best burger in the city. All the burgers are good, but if you like bacon, make sure you get a burger with some on it, as Lucky 13 bacon is extra special!

This is maybe the most famous restaurant in Salt Lake, and, as is not always the case, it’s for good reason. This Mexican food is absolutely delicious. I lived in Mexico City for awhile, and this place has maybe the best authentic mole I’ve ever had. The flautas, enchiladas, and chips and queso are also especially good. Note that this place doesn’t take reservations and the wait can get long around dinner time. Call ahead to gauge the wait. Pro tip: Red Iguana 2 across the street has the exact same menu and the wait is usually shorter — I usually go there.

This is a great, fairly easy hike for those new to Salt Lake. Only about 2 miles round-trip, at the top, you can look out over the entire city! This is also, by far, the closest hike to your place, as the trailhead starts just north of the Capitol. It’s fun to stop in and check out the capitol building on the way!

This is also, by far, the closest hike to your place, as the trailhead starts just north of the Capitol. It’s fun to stop in and check out the capitol building on the way!

The trail leads to a clearing with lots of rocks to sit on that resemble a living room where you can sit and enjoy views of the entire Salt Lake Valley! A great place to catch a sunset, but bring headlamps or a flashlight, as the trail can get dark on the way down.
This hike offers some of the most beautiful mountain views that Utah has to offer. Bear in mind that it is a more strenuous hike, gaining around 4,000 vertical feet and clocking in at around 7 miles round-trip.

I love this hike. Super easy, but the lake is so serene, and the wildflowers are beautiful in the summer! Round-trip distance is around 2 miles, with only 500 feet or so in elevation gain, so a leisurely stroll!
