My favorite place to go is a place called Rock Creek, about 30 min further than Oroville. This one can be a little tricky to find, so try to look it up ahead of time, but I promise you won't be disappointed! It is an area made of huge, slatted rocks; water pushes through and makes many pools and waterfalls.

If you are up for a longer drive, you can head up to the Chester/Almanor Area to Juniper Lake and Beauty Creek. This is a gorgeous National Park. It is at a higher elevation, but the walking is pretty flat and winds you around multiple incredible lakes. The temp is always about 10-20 degrees lower than in Butte County.

If you are looking for a close place to swim, go to 1 Mile! It is a huge, outdoor, public, no-entry-fee pool that is fed with water from our creek!! It is really cool for kids, where they can find tadpoles and other wildlife. There are lots of benches and fun areas for hanging out. There is also a cool park there called Caper Acres, with a giant swiss cheese kids can crawl through, castles and a humpty dumpty!
