A nice place for a fika with waffles and ice cream in nearby Oxelösund open during the summer break (end June to mid August). It's very popular so be prepared for some waiting time, but usually it's worth the wait and it's a beautiful place to be at and you can even enjoy a swim.

Trosa has in latest years restored the city center and have become one of the most sweet towns in Sweden. I would claim it is now one of the must see when visiting Sweden as it has become the perfect day trip for a stroll, a lunch and an ice cream in the sun.
The small wood houses are keept in very good shape and the small private gardens and flowering parks are really worth a visit. That the town has grown its food scene with cafés, restaurants and hotel bars only makes it more enjoyable.
Trosa centrum
Trosa has in latest years restored the city center and have become one of the most sweet towns in Sweden. I would claim it is now one of the must see when visiting Sweden as it has become the perfect day trip for a stroll, a lunch and an ice cream in the sun.
The small wood houses are keept in very good shape and the small private gardens and flowering parks are really worth a visit. That the town has grown its food scene with cafés, restaurants and hotel bars only makes it more enjoyable.
If you want to get to the archipelago without a boat this is a good alternative as they have built walking bridges to the islands for easy access. Recommendation is to be there early in the morning as it's a popular destination and can become crowded. There is a café close to the information/museum but not where you usually go for a swim, so bring a picknick and water for a more pleasant stay. Note that this is bathing from cliffs and it's not suitable for children who can't swim or infants (as it's not a stroller friendly path to get there).

StendörrenIf you want to get to the archipelago without a boat this is a good alternative as they have built walking bridges to the islands for easy access. Recommendation is to be there early in the morning as it's a popular destination and can become crowded. There is a café close to the information/museum but not where you usually go for a swim, so bring a picknick and water for a more pleasant stay. Note that this is bathing from cliffs and it's not suitable for children who can't swim or infants (as it's not a stroller friendly path to get there).

The walking trail Sörmlandsleden pass in our area and it's an easy track to take as a daytrip in any direction (towards Nyköping or Oxelösund.

The old military base was part of the Swedish defense both before, during and after the cold war. Now it's a museum and visitors can join a guided tour down in the tunnels far below ground. The location of Oxelösund and it's steep dock as well as the iron factory located in Oxelösund the past 100 years made it a natural target of invasion and needed to be protected at all costs. Interesting and different visit.
