Old-world beamed thatched pub built in 1380 with an inglenook, serving well kept real ales and homemade food. this pub can't be beaten for its character. This, coupled with excellent selection of well kept ale is a winning combination and you won't be disappointed.

Neighbourhoods

A cute gothic town that's more like an overgrown village. Loads of great pubs (21 in total), cute cafes and restaurants plus it's only 5 minutes drive from the centre to the beach.

If the weather is ok, check out Dunraven Bay, beautiful beach, sand at low tide. It also has the Heritage Coast Centre there and a beautiful walled garden with walks around it and on to the coastal path. You have to pay for parking. There's a little tuckshop café vibe down there and a good pub at the top of the hill (The Three Golden Cups). https://www.visitwales.com/attraction/beach/dunraven-bay-southerndown-beach-1936411

Rainy Day Activities

Another attraction less than 10mins drive from the Hay Loft is South Wales Aviation Museum. It has an exhaustive display of aeroplanes of all shapes and sizes, many of which you can get in and have imagery dog fits. Doted around there all interesting interactive science puzzles and the odd dinosaur here and there. There's also a café too.
