Welcome to Crested Butte!

Outdoor activities

Home to skiing, biking, hiking and year-round views, Mt. Crested Butte is what gives our town its name with it's "Crested" slope. There is endless terrain to explore throughout the year. Put your skiing/snowboarding skills to the test on the "Steeps" in the winter, or hike to over 12,000 ft and stand atop the peak in the summer! Three ways to get there: (1) Access via RTA bus route from Crested Butte South (2) Drive to town, park at the "4-Way Stop" and take the Mtn. Express Bus (3) Drive and park. There are two free lots (one on Hunter Hill Rd. and the other on Gothic Rd. just past Treasury Rd. -- they fill up quickly during ski weekends) but $15 parking is available in the Main Lot

Walk straight from the house or drive ~1 mile to the trailhead -- a great hiking trail off Cement Creek Rd. A steep incline but worth the effort for the views and the very cool caves at the top! Can be ~1.6mi if hiked as an out-and-back, or add on Walrod Gulch + Lower Cement Creek to make a ~4 mile loop

The state of a mountain town in 2022

In Colorado (and frankly resort towns across the US) there are shortages in labor and housing, an influx of travelers, and supply chain issues -- a recipe for tension. We love our little town dearly, and ask that you are patient and conscientious as you interact with workers and community members during your time here. Restaurants, bars, ski lines, etc. may have long wait times and we all are appreciative of your understanding!

The Sunday farmer's market in the summer is a must

In town along Elk Avenue (near 2nd / 3rd street) there is a wonderful farmer's market in the summer! Don't miss the BBQ brisket breakfast burritos, the pastries from Mountain Oven, or the fresh produce and flowers from vendors throughout the valley.

Mountain Biking

Some call Crested Butte the mountain bike capital of the world, and we would have to agree. If you're keen on some pedaling and have specific questions, feel free to reach out to us as we're happy to answer your questions.

Drive/Park/Bus

RTA is a great bus system available from Crested Butte South (our neighborhood) Mtn Express runs throughout Town of Crested Butte and up to Mt. CB. Driving and parking is also a very easy way to get around. On peak weekends you may have to park a few blocks off of Elk Ave., but generally there is ample parking at trailheads, the 4-Way Stop, etc.
