If you want to experience local, home-made soul food and you're ready to go out of the beaten path try Bertha's. Best Soul Food this side of the Mason/Dixon. You are not there for the ambiance but for the full south food experience. Pork ribs and fried chicken are my favs.

Citadel is so much a part of Charleston's history. The original campus is in Marion Square and is a hotel. Bummer. If you see cadets walking in the gutters it is because they are "knobs" or freshmen.
