Sightseeing
This is a 30-40 minute walk (it's steep in places with stairs) but the 360 view is so worth the effort, go at sunrise it is truly unique!! You can go straight up or vary the journey there’s lots of paths going in all directions around and down 😊.
If you don't have that much energy then take the path around the Mount base in either direction, if you are lucky there might be some seals playing on the channel side, it’s a beautiful walk anytime of the day, very popular stroll or run!

Lovely gentle bay on the other side from the surf beach, very short walk from the bay to the beach, great for kayaking or paddleboarding, safe paddling, and swimming for toddlers.

Food scene
The Mount has so many wonderful restaurants cafes and bars, here are a few that I have been to and would recommend to my guests.
Turn left out the driveway for a 3-minute stroll to the Tay Street Beach or stop at the cafe, grab a coffee at the store , lots of varieties of cute doggies and their owners!! Have brunch at the cafe, my recommendation is the chilli-scrambled eggs super yum yum! seafood chowder hard to beat too 🦞

This is an exquisite Asian fusion cuisine restaurant with well lantern decorations in Papamoa (super hard to get in, try your luck, and go down 5.30 ish or book ahead).
I love the food and vibe here! Lovely decor too and food presentation

Downtown the Mount location on Pacific Avenue, gorgeous Italian decorations and divine food, hard to beat at an outside table basking in the afternoon sun with a rose even on a winter's day!!! Very authentic just like being in Europe. My Mount favourite five stars all the way!!
