The Waterloo Region Museum encompasses the region as a whole, including people and immigration, settlement, industries, and special-interest elements. They show an introductory video, and a few a few short silent films of the era. Also on display are a huge stationary steam engine, a Conestoga wagon, and a thresher. We were particularly touched by a video memorial to local military personnel who died in action, from the Boer War to the present. The docents are very helpful and engaging. One volunteered information several times about things we were looking at; at the end of the day I told her it was more interesting not to ask questions but to just let her tell us whatever was on her mind. Food is available in the museum building, so you don't have to worry about leaving in order to get lunch. There is so much to see and learn here that we spent an entire day in the museum and a second entire day in adjacent Doon Heritage Village, which is included in the price of admission
