Roys Peak is an extremely popular walk for visitors to Wanaka. The carpark is located about 5kms from the Wanaka township. The walk takes about 5-7 hours return (although people run it in much less). Its 16kms and reaches a height of 1578m. Difficulty is listed as moderate to difficult. The track is open all year apart from 1st October to 11 November during lambing season.

Rocky Mountain is approximately a 20 minute drive from Wanaka. The drive being almost as spectacular as the walk as you head towards Mt Aspiring National Park. The walk itself is 8km and about a 3 hour round trip. It can be particularly icy in Winter. The views from the top are 360 degrees looking up the Matukituki Valley towards Mt Aspiring National Park and over Lake Wanaka. On the way you get to see Diamond Lake which has been known to freeze over enough some Winters to be ice skatable! Lots of great look out stops on the way to the top.

A stunning bike track. Official start is from the Hawea Swing Bridge. The track follows the Clutha River to Luggate and is approximately 12.5kms one way. You can return via the track on the other side of the Clutha River, just cross over the Red Bridge at Luggate and follow the track signs.
