Amusements and Promenade

There are plenty of places to eat on Bognor Regis Beach, or if you like amusements there is a Pier with amusements. You can stroll along the prom toward Sussex Coast Holiday ( or I call it Butlins). You can also find Hotham Park with a lovely Café and a sculpture trail. It's a typical seaside town but is currently having quite a bit of re-development.

Beaches

The Witterings are beautiful, the little village has several places to eat, my favorite is Drifters bar but there are Cafe's and pubs all along that stretch. If you want to park up and spend the day on the beach you can head to Wittering Beach Car Park but you need to book ahead during peak season. If you download the Just Park parking app and put in West Wittering it's £10 for the day at the weekend. There is a Café there and you can also hire surfboards and paddle boards, or walk the long sandy stretch of beach. It gets very crowded.

Local Beach walking distance

Local beach 2 minutes walk, head out of the back gate and walk straight ahead, at the post box cross the road and turn left you will see an alley way on your right, head down the alley and you will see the sea straight in front of you. It is a pebble beach but there are walkways for access and seating areas, when the tide is low you do get sand.

My favourite walks

This is a lovely walk and can be accessed from Selsey Road and car park there is an information center or you can walk or drive from the Bungalow. Head out the front door and left out of the close to the roundabout and turn right. Follow the road pass the parade of shops and the Co-op and turn right down Sea Lane . At the end of the lane turn left and drive past Church Farm Holiday park, pass Thomas Beckett Church ( take a look inside) and past some thatched cottages the road narrows until you come to a dead end and a gate to the harbour. You can usually park along this road. There are several walks from here you can turn left at the salt house and walk to the spit if the tide is out or head straight ahead through the gates and there are several walkways along the North wall. There are many birds to be seen and I have even walked behind a deer on this walk.

This can be found by heading to the Co-op/ Cafe in Pagham and you will find Lagoon Road, you can drive down there but its very bumpy and narrow, the Lagoon is down a track on the right toward the end of the road. You can walk around the Lagoon there is a bridge where you can feed the birds, or you can walk past the Lagoon and head to Pagham spit and the track to the harbor.

The Spit - This area is changing the area is used to keep the sea away from the houses and every year there is more erosion. It is quite beautiful on a still evening so calm with lovely sunsets. You may even see the resident Seal. You can reach this by walking from the bungalow, down the alleyway, and continue right along the beach, past the sailing club until the end of the house and you will find the Spit. Or you can drive to the Cafe and park and walk from there.

This is one of my favorite places with ancient Ewe Trees if you are a walker there is a circuit that encompasses climbing the steps to the burial mounds and then continuing through butterfly fields. It's on road to Fishbourne and signposted Kingly Vale Nature Reserve. There is sometimes a mobile coffee place and parking can be quite hard. Take water and wear sturdy footwear. It can also get very muddy in places but well worth seeing the trees.

This is a lovely walk up to the Windmill, with amazing views. You can start at Halnakar car park or you can park in box grove and follow the windmill walk which is longer but well worth it. There are pubs and cafes nearby.

The Marina is part of Salterns Way you can walk or Cycle from Wittering through East Head and to Chichester, there is a lovely Restaurant - the Boat House. Take a look at the house boats, watch the sailing boats, and see the working lock entrance. Take a walk around the copse. There is plenty of free parking. I recently found you can hire bikes for only £3 per hour via the appbike app.
