Swimming pools

Be sure to visit one of the many neighborhood pools in every town in Iceland. They are almost all outside with lots of hot tubs with various temperatures and even a tub for cold plunging if you are feeling extra brave. These pools are a huge part of every day life in Iceland and you will find many an Icelander going there on a daily basis or at least a few times a week to chill in the hot tub, enjoy the sauna and steam bath or swim a few laps. This pool also has an infra-red sauna, which I love. Just make sure to bring an extra towel to sit on in the sauna. I also love Vesturbæjarlaug and Laugardalslaug in Reykjavík.

Driving along the fjord is so beautiful. The roads are close to the ocean and you can stop along the way and see if you can spot a seal or even a whale!

Drive safely in Iceland during Winter

Please stay safe on the roads in Iceland during the Winter months (which are, let's face it, most of the year...) as the roads can get very icy. When driving outside the city please note that in many parts there are no street lights. To see that status of roads please check out umferdin . is
