Shopping and Dining

Our home is less than 1.5 miles to Siesta Key Village. The Village has an incredible vibe, great food and drinks, and fun shops! A few of our recommendations are: SKOB (Siesta Key Oyster Bar): great live music and raw oysters. The grouper bites are also fantastic. The Cottage: a tappas restaurant with a very eclectic menu. They have an incredible electric violinist on Thursday nights. Ask to sit in the secret garden and try the Lobster Maki roll. The Hubb: enjoy some tropical cocktails and fresh Baja cuisine. They also have live music. We love the fish tacos and the Siesta salad with salmon. Summer House: excellent high end steak and seafood restaurant with a good wine selection. The Old Salty Dog: a great place for lunch and it is right on the ocean Broken Egg and Bonjoir! are two great breakfast options. Stop by Mojo Risin' for a smoothie bowl or a coffee.

There is a nice outlet mall in Bradenton and the UTC Mall in Sarasota is new and wonderful. There are several nice boutiques at St. Armand's. If you eat there, go to the Columbia House restaurant and get their famous 1905 salad and a Cuban sandwich or their pasta….. Delish!

Fun things to do

Voted #1 beach in the country. Very clean public beach with soft, white sand that stays cool. Get to the public beach parking lot early especially during busy season. We like to park in Lot 10 or 11 as it gets you away from the crowd. You can also park at the public parking lot to be close to bathrooms, food, and the playground.

City/town information

We love going off island and eating at a few different restaurants in Sarasota. A few of our favorites are: Walt's Fish Market : a very popular dinner option that is very close. Everything is caught daily and excellent. There typically is a big wait, so plan ahead. Philippi Creek Restaurant - another good seafood place and very close as well. It is great for large groups and you can always get a table. The snow crab and gumbo are great choices. Owens Fish Camp - It's located in downtown Sarasota. Great Cajun seafood menu and phenomenal atmosphere. Sit in the backyard while you wait to be seated. Veronica's and State Street are our favorite dinner places. Both have great food and cocktails. Defiantly recommend checking out!

Fishing Charter

Sarasota area inshore fishing grounds are some of the best in all of Florida.  If you are interested in chartering bay or deep sea fishing, we recommend Captain Matt with Big Ticket Charters. Our friends and family use him and it is always a great time! His prices are very competitive and you are sure to catch some great fish, even if you are inexperienced. Each trips includes everything you need for fishing and they will also filet and package the fish for you!

Drum Circle

Go enjoy the drum circle on Sunday nights at Siesta Beach. Siesta Key is known for drumming down. This is a time where musicians & dancers will play on the beach at sunset. We recommend getting there early and bringing some beach chairs and a cooler.
