Food Scene

The food is incredible. Almost anything on the menu can be made to fit a vegan or gluten-free diet. The staff is friendly and works with your order if it needs to be specially made. It's a small restaurant in Salmon Creek.

The pizza here is so good! You can order in little slices or a whole pizza. Picture Subway, but with pizzas. Service is great, and if you've never been there, the employees are really nice about helping you with your order.

Also known as Klineline Pond and a popular swimming spot during the summer. There are hiking trails, picnic shelters, a fishing pond, and a playground/splash pad for kids. Life guards are only available for the pond during the summer season. If you want to view Vancouver Lake from the park itself, see a beautiful view of Mt. St. Helens, and possibly even a flock of Canadian geese, then Vancouver Lake Park is for you! It's a bit of a drive (15 minutes), but it's lovely. There's hiking, paddle boarding, canoeing, and volleyball practiced out at this park as well as family picnics. There is a $3 parking fee, but it's good all day and the pass gets you access to the other county parks (Frenchman's Bar, Klineline Pond/Salmon Creek Park, & Lewisville Park). If you continue about 2-3 miles down Lower River Rd., you will reach Frenchman's Bar Park, on the Columbia River.

This park is great for jogging, picnics, and lounging on the beach. Located right on the Columbia River, you can see Sauvie Island, OR, right across the way, and maybe even see a fisherman or two catch a salmon or steelhead. There is a lot of wildlife here, from blue herons to snakes, rabbits, and even a coyote! People ride their horses out there, so that can be a delight, too. There is a 5 mile trail that connects Frenchman's to Vancouver Lake, so joggers always take advantage of that.
