Foodcourt in a former tram reconstruction site, just a 2 min walk from my home. There is also a very nice movie theatre, some shops, restaurants, an art gallery etc. Highly recommendable! There is a nice shop called ‘local goods’ where you can buy all sorts of Amsterdam-related artifacts, presents, clothing, food, etc.

A 7 min walk, very nice French restaurant, lovely, very local atmosphere, menu changes with the seasons, never disappointing.

My personal favorite hangout, restaurant, cafe, you name it;-) if you have time, a trip to Amsterdam Noord (north) is definitely worth it. Take the free Ferry to NDSM haven which leaves from the dock behind the Central Train station and walk to this hotspot for lunch, dinner or drinks.
