I love this walk & try to do it at least 3 times a week. starting at the carpark near Beach Byron Bay Cafe I take the board walk turn left down past the Pass Cafe up over the hill past Wategos Beach & up the stairs (they never get any easier) take in the view then head back down via the road (you can go up thru the bush) when you get to the part of the road where it forks take the upper road to your left it is a lot safer walking.

Affectionately known as ‘the Lighty’, Cape Byron Lighthouse teeters on the edge of the South Pacific Ocean atop iconic rocky headland at Australia’s most Easterly point. Presiding over endless ocean vistas of the Pass, Wategos Beach, and Tallow Beach, the Lighthouse is the ultimate vantage point for whale watching, dolphin spotting, surf checks, sunsets, and picnics. The walking track is moderately challenging and can be accessed at various points but we recommend starting at Clarke’s Beach car park and following the walkway until you reach the entrance to the Pass carpark, continuing onto the wooden boardwalk leading down to the beach. Alternatively, you can continue straight along the road but this route can be a little dangerous with traffic and much less scenic than the coastal option.

Most spectacular walk in the region. I recommend parking near Clarks beach & walking up the back way through beautiful forest, happy to give more details & many stairs ! so it is a great workout.

You’ll enjoy some of the best views of the ocean and hinterland on the entire coast, including regular sightings of turtles, dolphins and humpback whales.

This walk around the light house is very rewarding on anyway, the views are stunning, its one of my all time favourite places. Often you can spot whales or dolphins. Its also the most easterly point of Australia.
