Closer than the large grocery stores this mercantile is still being run by the Green family. It has not changed much in a hundred years and is still the post office for Buffalo Creek. (and my polling place) Worthwhile poking your head into. Get a candy bar, get gas, and a T-shirt. Mary keeps a small variety of groceries on hand.

Add this stop on your scenic drive along the Platte River. Take Hwy 285 to Foxton Road. Head south to the Platte River. On Foxton Road is a Jeffco Open Space park called Reynolds Park. Stop for a hike. Continue down to the Platte. Take a right turn. Follow the river to Hwy 126. Turn right back up to Hwy 285. Greens is a 2 story rock building at the corner of Platte River road and 126. Stop for ice cream and to check it out. Once you turn on 126 you will see the Swan Hereford Ranch and go though the town of Pine. Zokas is a good lunch stop. Pine Valley Open Space is a beautiful park along the Platte. It’s entrance is just past the town of Pine.

Step back into the 60's at this grocery store down the road. Has most of the essentials, but you should go just to experience the building and shop itself! NB - you can purchase fishing licenses from here.
