This is really fun and unique trail that features slot canyons, and it's located just off the 5 freeway in Solana Beach.

Check online to be sure this trail is open. Journey along this newly restored trail in San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve. The moderate-to-strenuous 1/4 mile 200 feet climb to a vista point offers panoramic views of the reserve and the Pacific Ocean. The joy is in the journey as steep switchbacks pass through the naturally sculpted sandstone walls and narrow slot corridors that "create a sense of mystery and wonder."

Local hiking spot like no others. Want to get out and explore. Don’t miss this family-friendly hike! The San Elijo Lagoons have miles of trails great for ecological hikes and running.

Great little hike into a sand canyon. We usually park at north end of Cedros Ave north of Lomas Santa Fe drive. Dogs allowed on leash.
