Hin Lad is TOTALLY different. There is no admission fee, no elephants and it’s much quieter The trek is pretty challenging through the jungle, on an undulating track with rocks and trees in the way for a lot of it. I would suggest strong trainers with good grip. After 1.5km you’ll reach the first waterfall - if you carry on past this, the second is all the more spectacular. Highly recommended if you want a fairly short but moderately difficult hike. Probably not ideal for families with small children and those wearing flip flops!

Known in Thai as Wat Namtok Hin Lad, Hin Lad Waterfall Temple (or Saunthamma Pala Nikrotharam Temple in full) is set in evergreen tropical jungle just before the trail up to the famous Hin Lad Waterfall, a few kilometres south of Nathon Town, Samui.

The Hin Lat waterfall can be found on the western part of Koh Samui, just south of Na Thon. At the base of the of this magnificent waterfall you will find the Hin Lat Buddhist Monk Sanctuary.

About a 45-min hike to the top of this nearby waterfall. You can take a dip along the way or wait till the top. Beautiful hike with few, if any people hiking. Google Maps: GXC8+FPM
