The shrine of Our Lady of Montenero is a place of Catholic worship located in the locality of the same name in the municipality of Riomaggiore, in the province of La Spezia. The sanctuary, reachable only through a mule track from the provincial road 370, rises to 340 meters above sea level. Although the first documented records date back to documents of 1335, popular sources attest to the presence of a primitive place of worship since the eighth century, built by the inhabitants of Riomaggiore after a Marian vision in 790 to the young Maria del Paladino
