Old Nick Village offers visitors a “creative lifestyle shopping experience” and is a landmark in this seaside town. Originally it was a Gansvlei General Dealers Store, a trading store, which was built by Aaron Toplis in 1880. The shop traded until the 1960’s when it was forced to close due to the…

A beautiful little Centre, just out of town, where you may find a weaving Centre with historic looms on display, and many beautiful woven products. Also beautiful and unusual pottery, clothing, African blankets and art, books, garden Centre, and a place to eat

We love Old Nick for shopping and eating, so much on offer … Mungo Design manufactures quality homeware textiles, including table linen, throws, bedding and iconic flat-weave towels. ‘Man Cloth’ is a personal favourite, a braai cloth with heatproof corners that doubles as an apron. “Robberg Nature Reserve is just a few minutes drive from Bird Villa. There are picnic tables so even for the "non-hikers" there is a reason to go. Many of the longer trails are un-even and can be rocky/slippery so caution if you're planning a hike. This is a BIG draw to people and is worth a visit....for a several hour hike or even just a short stroll!”

Restaurante italiano
“It’s not often that us South Africans stumble across authentic Italian cuisine, so we’re always delighted to find a gem like Enrico’s that would make any Italian proud. With its mind-blowingly beautiful position and lip-smacking menu, Ristorante Enrico has the winning combination of delectable views and delicious food. Start with the anti pasti menu, consisting of Italian favourites such as insalata di mare, which includes prawns, mussels, a piece of linefish and calamari strips, or the more South African flavoured kudu and avocado dish. Fresh seafood is prepared with expert Italian flare, such as the kingklip fillet, with shrimp, caper and cream sauce. Veal is served with cream and a green peppercorn sauce, or more of a lemon and white wine sauce. Linefish is baked with olive oil, white wine, a touch of garlic and ‘lots of imagination’!”

“Lovely retail therapy outing and eatery in Piesang Valley. They also have a big outdoor play area, but lots of water, so not great for people with really small children. ”
