The Sapporo City Museum of Art is a building built as a Sapporo Appellate College in 1926. As a building using Sapporo soft stone it is valuable nationwide and was selected as a registered tangible cultural asset of the country in May 1997 (1997). In front of the building the rose garden which begins to bloom from June is spreading and has become a sedimentary garden centering on the rose where the canal (water passage) was arranged in the center. The building and the rose garden are viewpoints!

現在「札幌市資料館」として一般公開されている建物は、かつて控訴院として使われていたもの。今の高等裁判所にあたる施設です。館内には札幌出身の漫画家・画家、おおば比呂司の記念室や札幌のまちの成り立ちを知ることができる展示室など、無料で見学できる展示室もあります。例年5月上旬に咲く資料館裏の桜も札幌市民のひそかな楽しみです。
