The Central is the latest addition to The Head Of Steam family. It is situated on the Gateshead side of the River Tyne, between the Tyne and High Level Bridges, next to the railway bridge.

known locally as "The Coffin" due to the shape of the building - often puts on good smaller bands and does good burgers

This is one of the best pubs in the North East and is literally on your doorstep. Good food available and usually offering at least 8 guest beers, look out for local favourites Wylam and Tynebank.
