Chillingham Castle is a 13th century stronghold in Northumberland. I cannot emphasise enough how stunning this place is. And it is chock full of really interesting antiques and historical artefacts, like letters from royalty such as Mary Queen of Scots, Edward the 1st of England, who executed William Wallace to death. There are even incredibly rare giant auroch antlers casually hanging above the tea room! I highly recommend buying the wee guidebook from the gift shop as you enter, as the sassy commentary from Sir Humphry Wakefield, the owner, are hilarious. Just make sure you don't insult the place or nick anything, as otherwise the Spanish Witch's curse will follow you!

A quirky, apparently haunted building that the children in your group will find particularly interesting. Can be done in conjunction with a visit to the famous cattle.
Fascinating, chilling history, in beautiful grounds. See the Chillingham wild cattle there.
