Downham Market is one of Norfolk’s oldest market towns located on the river Ouse. You will immediately recognise the Market place by the splendidly unusual majestic black and white clock. The town retains an intimate feel characterised by many historic buildings, craft and collectibles markets and a busy market of Fridays and Saturdays as well as a host of independent shops. Downham Market’s nickname is ‘Gingerbread Town’ due to its buildings made from local Carrstone.
